Makeway collects the information needed to coordinate parking and keep the platform safe, and no more. The information Makeway stores on its own systems includes the following:

Account information: a username or display name that you choose (which may be anything you like), and your email address.

Vehicle information: your license plate number and your vehicle's make, model, and year.

Location information: Makeway collects your device's location to coordinate parking. Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, this may include precise location collected while you use the app and in the background while the app is not open, and Makeway may retain a history of this location data. See "Location Information" below.

Makeway does not collect or store your home address, your legal full name, your date of birth, your Social Security number, or any payment or banking information. Information required for payouts is handled entirely by Stripe, as described below.

Makeway does not collect, store, or have access to your banking credentials, payment card numbers, or Social Security number. When payout functionality becomes available, all financial and identity-verification information required for it is submitted directly to Stripe, Makeway's third-party payment processor, through Stripe's own interface. Makeway never sees or stores this information.

Stripe's handling of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You are encouraged to review Stripe's privacy practices at stripe.com/privacy.

Makeway uses your email address to create your account, sign you in, send transactional and service messages (such as account, dispute, and payout notifications), and notify you about availability and launch updates.

Makeway does not sell, rent, or trade your email address. We do not use it for third-party advertising. Your email is shared only with the infrastructure providers needed to operate the Service (such as our email-delivery and cloud-hosting providers), and only as far as needed to provide the Service.

Makeway uses Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the Service performs and how to improve it. As a third-party provider, Firebase may collect usage information such as app interactions, session duration, device type, operating system, and similar technical data.

This information is collected by Firebase for analytics purposes and is separate from the limited account information Makeway stores on its own systems. Where possible, it is collected in aggregated and anonymized form. Firebase's data practices are governed by Google's privacy policies.

Makeway uses your device's location to make parking coordination work. Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, this may include precise location collected while you use the app and in the background while the app is not open, collected on a continuous or periodic basis, and Makeway may use more than one method to collect and update it.

Location is used to calculate estimated arrival times, display your position and the positions of users you are coordinating with on the map, confirm that both parties are present at the moment of a handoff, and support safety and fraud prevention. Makeway may store this location data, including a history of locations.

You control location access through your device's settings and can revoke or limit it at any time, including turning off background access. Disabling location or background access will limit or disable features that depend on it, such as ETAs and live map coordination. Because precise geolocation is treated as sensitive information, Makeway handles it accordingly and limits its use to the purposes described in this Policy.

Information collected through the Service is used to operate, maintain, and improve it. Specific uses include creating and authenticating your account, enabling the sharing of parking signals between users, verifying interactions through user confirmations and proximity at the moment of a transaction, resolving disputes, enforcing platform policies, detecting and preventing fraud, and improving reliability and performance, as well as calculating estimated arrival times, showing positions on the map during coordination, and supporting safety and fraud prevention.

Makeway uses the minimum information necessary for each of these purposes.

Makeway does not sell personal information to third parties, and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Limited information is shared in only two ways:

With other users: other users see the username or display name you choose, the last three digits of your license plate, and your vehicle's make, model, and year. Your full license plate is never shown to other users. During active coordination, users you are coordinating with may see your approximate position on the map and your estimated arrival time.

With service providers: trusted providers that help operate the platform — such as Stripe (payouts), Firebase (analytics), email delivery, and cloud hosting — may receive limited information strictly as needed to provide their service.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request.

Makeway collects your full license plate number for account verification, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution. Your full license plate is stored securely with encryption and access controls, and is never displayed to other users.

Only the last three digits of your license plate are shown to other users, alongside your chosen username or display name and your vehicle's make, model, and year. Full license plate data is accessible only to authorized Makeway personnel for verification, investigation, and dispute resolution.

Makeway does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to direct Makeway not to sell or share your personal information. Although Makeway does not engage in these practices, you may submit a request at any time by contacting legal@makeway.net.

Precise geolocation is treated as sensitive personal information. Where applicable law provides it, you have the right to limit the use of your sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the Service. To exercise this right, contact legal@makeway.net.

Makeway uses industry-standard security measures, including encryption, access controls, and regular reviews, to protect personal information, including license plate data. Access to sensitive information is restricted to authorized personnel.

No digital system can guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials and report any suspected unauthorized access immediately.

In the event of a confirmed data breach involving personal information, Makeway will notify affected users without unreasonable delay by email or in-app notification, and will cooperate with law enforcement and regulators as required by law.

Makeway will provide affected users with information about the nature of the breach, the categories of data involved, and recommended protective steps, to the extent such information is known at the time of notification.

Makeway retains personal information only as long as necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce platform policies. Account information is retained while your account is active.

Location data, including location history, is retained for as long as needed to provide coordination features and to support safety, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution, after which it is deleted or anonymized. License plate and transaction records may be retained for a reasonable period after account closure for fraud prevention and dispute resolution. Information that is no longer required is securely deleted or anonymized.

You may request access to your personal information, request corrections to inaccurate data, or request deletion of your account by contacting MAKE WAY LLC at legal@makeway.net. Makeway will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe consistent with applicable law.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Makeway's service is currently available only in Hoboken, New Jersey.

If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights — such as California under the CCPA or the European Union under the GDPR — those rights apply where required by applicable law.

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in platform functionality, regulatory requirements, or operational practices. Updated versions will be posted on the website and within the application. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
